Thank you for visiting the 2008 Opportunity Drawing Page.  The Opportunity Drawing initiative was created to assist the United States Blind Golf Association with the generation of funds to support various blind golf projects for the 2008 season.  The USBGA is a 501 C3 Non-Prophet organization dependent upon grants and contributions from businesses, charitable organizations, philanthropic foundations, and individual patrons.  The project was launched to demonstrate the Memberships effort to obtain funds through their own direct individual involvement.

Listed below is a letter that was sent to all USBGA Members kicking off the 2008 Opportunity Drawing Campaign.

To all USBGA Members:

The Board of the USBGA has voted to ask the membership to help in raising money for our organization.  We all enjoy the golf tournaments, and I am sure that, at one time or another, you have asked, “Where do we get the money?”  It is very helpful in soliciting money from various donors and foundations if we show that the membership of the USBGA actually works on fundraising projects on their own.

• In this envelope there are 10 USBGA Opportunity Drawing Tickets.
• Each ticket sells for $10.
• The prize is a $1000 shopping gift card at any retail store chosen by the winner.  The retail store chosen by the winner must sell gift cards.
• The ticket is perforated into two parts.  When you sell a ticket, fold and tear the ticket along the perforated line.  The buyer will keep the larger portion of the ticket that describes the drawing.  The USBGA member selling the ticket will keep the stub with the buyer’s name, phone number and email address printed on it. 
• If the $10 is a check, be sure it is made out to the USBGA.  If a ticket is sold for cash, deposit the cash in your account and write a personal check to the USBGA and attach it to the stub for mailing.
• The $10 collected will be returned with the ticket stub to:

• Before you mail the stubs, write your name on the back of each stub you sold.  We are working on a special prize for the member who sells the winning ticket, and for the member who sells the most tickets.
• All unsold tickets must be returned by Monday September 15. Unsold tickets will be mailed to Bruce Hooper at the address above.
• If you are planning to play in the National Championship in Tunica, Mississippi, then you can bring all sold and unsold tickets with you.
• Tim Jackson has put together a committee to stay in touch with you and to answer any questions that you might have, and get you more tickets if you need them.  This committee member will be calling you to make sure you got the tickets and you know what to do.
• Our goal is to raise $10,000.  The more tickets you can sell the better.  Please offer this opportunity to all your friends and also clubs and organizations that you belong to.

Congratulations to USBGA Super Salesman Brad Eaton!

At the Montgomery tournament Brad Eaton turned in a total of 43 Opportunity Drawing Tickets.  As of June 29^th, he is now up to 74 tickets!  Brad we all owe you our most sincere appreciation for your efforts supporting the United States Blind Golf Association.  Without a doubt, you are one of the USBGA's most dedicated members!

On behalf of the entire Membership of the USBGA, the Board would like to express our sincere appreciation to Mary for being the first member to meet the challenge of selling 10 Opportunity Drawing tickets.  The list is growing and we will be posting the updates regularly.
